Designer Brooks Stevens originally created the car as a show vehicle for Studebaker, but later founded his own company and took over production and sales himself. The Series I was based on Studebaker chassis components and powered by a high-performance Chevrolet V8 engine. With around 300 horsepower, the approximately 1,050 kg lightweight car could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under five seconds and reach a top speed of about 240–260 km/h depending on specification. Between 1965 and 1969, only 56 Series I cars were built, making it a rare and highly sought-after collector’s vehicle.
